Changing it
Under a minute, by hand.

Unscrew the cap.
The bottom of the handle comes off by hand. Nothing comes off the wall and the hose stays where it is.

Swap the cartridge.
The spent one lifts out, the new one drops in. There is only one way round.

Cap back on and run it.
Hand tight. Run it for a few seconds and you will smell the new scent before you feel anything else.

Will it fit the SUHAE I already own?
Yes. Radiance, Nourish, Aura and the Vitae-Connector all take the same Vitae™ cartridge, so you do not need to know which model you bought or when.
Can I change scent, or am I stuck with the one I started on?
Change it whenever you like. Every scent carries the same vitamin C and costs the same, so switching is a mood decision, not a trade-off. Plenty of people keep one for mornings and a different one for evenings.
Can I stock up, or will they go off sitting in a cupboard?
Buying two at a time is the cheaper way to do it and they keep sealed. Store them out of direct sun and somewhere that is not the shower itself.
What happens if I leave an old one in?
The head still works and the water still flows. Once the vitamin C is used up it is no longer neutralising chlorine, so you are showering under ordinary tap water through a nice spray plate.

What the cartridge does

The cartridge is the part that gets used up.
Vitae™ Infusion is the only part of a SUHAE shower head that runs out. Everything else lasts.
Vitae™ Infusion
Vitamin C does the work.
25,000mg of ascorbic acid, which neutralises chlorine on contact. It is the same chemistry used to dechlorinate water before it goes back into a waterway. The gel is consumed as water passes through it, which is why this is the part you replace and the head is not.
What else is in it
Not only vitamin C.
Glycerin, milk extract and aloe vera are blended into the same cartridge, alongside the scent. One part, doing several jobs, for the two to three months it lasts.
Purea™ Core
The rest of the stack stays put.
The antibacterial ceramic beads and the microfibre layer live in the handle and are not consumables. The other filtration layers stay in place while you replace your Vitae cartridge as needed.

When to change it
When to change it
Two to three months, and the household decides which.
A cartridge lasts two to three months. Where you land in that range depends on how many people shower, how long they stand there, and how hot the water runs. A single person on short showers will be nearer three months. A family of four will be nearer two.
The honest rule: if you cannot remember when you last changed it, it is due.
Most households get through four to five cartridges a year. Buying two at a time is cheaper and means the next one is already in the cupboard when the current one runs out.

Why keep replacing it
The chlorine does not take a month off.
PUB chlorinates on purpose and the water that reaches your flat is safe to drink. The residual chlorine is what keeps it safe the whole length of the pipe. We are not going to argue with that.
Safe to drink is not the same as optimal for ten minutes of daily skin contact.

How do I know when my refill needs changing?

What happens if I keep showering on a spent cartridge?
Nothing breaks. The head works and the water flows as normal. What you lose is the filtration, because once the vitamin C is used up there is nothing left to neutralise the chlorine. You are back to ordinary tap water through a good spray plate.
